Soft and cozy, this is Twaza the giraffe. She is one of six Shamwari's ('friends' in Shona language). She has been lovingly knitted by hand in Murare in the eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe. She is wearing her favourite sweater and can't wait to join your family.
The Shamwari Collection (Shona word for friend), is made up of 6 delightful little animals.Each animal is lovingly and completely handmade and has as much individuality and character as the lady who knitted it! This upliftment project was set up in Mutare in the Eastern Highlands of Zimabwe in November 2008 to give local women the opportunity to use their craft skills to build a future for themselves and their families.
