Mud Chic: Lifestyle & Inspiration from the Shosa People of the Old Transkei, explores life lived in tune with nature and in cognisance of community. It is here in every inch of a traditional rural dwelling that we find the ideological and decorative footprint of Xhosa culture.
While photographing the book, Shack Chic, which focussed on the lifestyle and inspiration found in the shack-lands of Cape Town, the most frequent reply to photographer Craig Fraser's question, 'Where is your home'? was 'Transkei'. Craig explores this further, to understand this attachment that the urban shack dwellers feel for their rural roots.
